Movie - Law Abiding Citizen
We watched 'Law Abiding Citizen' recently and I really liked it. It is an action type of movie with some 'Seven' and 'Game' aspects in it. Unexpected developments throughout the movie kept us glued to our seats. 9/10

First overseas visitor
We received our first overseas visitor this Friday. Carla's cousin Lucas came to Australia on a Work/Travel visa and will be travelling around for the next few months.
First few things to do with a long term visitor to Australia are:
-get them an Australian SIM card for their cell phone
-open a bank account for them
-get an Australian tax file number (if you plan on doing any paid work in Australia)
First couple of days of any visit should consist of:
-visiting one of the famous beaches (Bondi, Manly)
-visit downtown Sydney and get a nice look at the Sydney Opera House
-check out the shopping in Chatswood (two shopping malls)
The rest we will figure out as we go. There is quite a lot of good walking that can be done around Sydney, with beautiful views of nature, so we plan to do a few of those as well.

Movie - Couples Retreat
Just saw a good movie and thought I would recommend it to others. 'Couples Retreat' was really funny and probably more so if you are in a relationship. 8/10

Olympic Games opening ceremony
The opening ceremony for the Vancouver Winter Olympics was really impressive. A fancy digital floor was used to display amazing scenery on the centre court of the stadium. The whale scene was one of the best. The prairie scene was also good, with all the wheat and blue skies. It means more if you've actually lived there. :-)
The aboriginal people of Canada were an integral part of the ceremonies. That was a really nice move, especially since most of the Olympic events are taking place on Native land.
We were really interested to see which famous Canadians would take part in the ceremonies. Donald Sutherland (actor, and father of Kiefer Sutherland from 24) was narrating the opening ceremony. Sarah McLachlan, KD lang, Ashley McIsaac, Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado made an appearance. On the athlete side, we were glad to see that among the last few Olympic torch bearers were Steve Nash and Wayne Gretzky.
A malfunction at the end prevent one of the four beams to rise up and help light the Olympic flame. Luckily, the other three beams worked and the ceremony continued without further incident. All in all, it was a really well planned out and delivered opening ceremony.

Sydney's North Beaches
Last Sunday, Carla and I went driving through the Northern Shores area of Sydney. This area contains about 20 different beaches, and we got to visit at least 10 of them in one day.
All the beaches were beautiful, as you will be able to see from the pictures. The weather was cloudy and rainy, but the views were still spectacular.

Burek
This weekend was supposed to be rainy, so we decided to rent a car and go explore Sydney. First task, find a good burek place!
Mission accomplished! As you will see from the pictures below, we found the BEST burek place in Australia. :-) We had both cheese burek and meat burek. They were also selling spinach burek and apple burek, but we filled up pretty quickly so there was no room to try other delicacies.
There seem to be at least two more places selling burek in Sydney. We will have to check them out later this year.
